What we do
We prepare and lodge the SAD 500 customs declaration for your imports and exports, calculate and pay duty and VAT on your behalf, and manage the release of cargo from the port, airport or border terminal. Because we lodge via EDI as an accredited agent, entries are processed faster and are stopped less often than manual or non-accredited submissions.

- SAD 500 entry lodged via SARS EDI, with a copy and duty breakdown sent to you
- Payment of duty and VAT through our deferment or on your account
- Handling of documentary stops, physical inspections and detention queries
- Payment of port charges, freight and shipping-line charges on your behalf
- Customs supervision and customs examinations attended at the depot
- Port, terminal and shipping-line release, including cargo dues and storage
- Full document file retained for the statutory period
Import clearing
For imports we begin as soon as we receive the commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading or airway bill — ideally before the vessel or aircraft arrives. Pre-arrival lodgement means most compliant shipments are released the day they land. Where an import permit, letter of authority, SABS/NRCS or Port Health approval is required, we tell you at quote stage, not at the port.
Export clearing
For exports we lodge the export entry, arrange the necessary certificates of origin or SADC/EUR1 documentation, and coordinate with the carrier so the container or air cargo is accepted at the terminal without delay. Exporters using rebate or drawback provisions get the supporting entries recorded correctly from the outset.

Primarily Durban — container terminals, Maydon Wharf, Point and Island View — as well as King Shaka and OR Tambo air cargo, Richards Bay, Cape Town and Gqeberha through our agent network, and all major SADC road border posts.

What documents do you need to clear my import?
A commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading or airway bill, and your importer code. Depending on the product we may also need a permit, certificate of origin or SABS/NRCS approval — we confirm this when we quote.
How long does customs clearance take in Durban?
Compliant, pre-lodged entries are typically released within a day of arrival. Stops for document checks or physical inspection add one to several days; we manage those directly with SARS and keep you informed.
Do I need my own importer code?
Yes — SARS requires the importer of record to be registered. If you do not yet have an importer code we can advise on the application and clear under our accreditation once you are registered.
Can you clear at ports other than Durban?
Yes. We clear at all South African ports of entry — sea, air and land — using our own team in Durban and long-standing agent partners elsewhere.
